DigiWind is an international educational initiative funded under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP). The project aims to reshape education in renewable energy by developing innovative learning pathways that combine wind energy engineering with advanced digital technologies.
As Europe accelerates its green and digital transitions, DigiWind addresses the growing demand for highly qualified professionals equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge and advanced digital skills. The project focuses on developing competencies in key technology areas identified by the Digital Europe Programme, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI),
- Machine Learning (ML),
- Cloud Computing,
- Cybersecurity,
- High-Performance Computing (HPC).
At Gdańsk University of Technology, DigiWind supports the development of new educational programmes that prepare future engineers and specialists for careers in offshore wind energy and the broader renewable energy sector.
Educational Pathways
DigiWind offers a flexible, modular educational framework consisting of three complementary learning pathways:
- Lifelong Learning (LLL) modules,
- M.Sc. in Smart Renewable Energy Engineering - programme description and curriculum are available [here],
- Postgraduate studies.
A key element of the project is the DigiWind Virtual Campus - an interoperable online learning platform that provides access to educational modules developed by project partners. Through the Virtual Campus, participants benefit from the expertise of leading European universities, research institutions, centres of excellence, and industry partners.
The consortium includes:
- Technical University of Denmark (DTU),
- Delft University of Technology (TU Delft),
- Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU),
- Technological University of the Shannon (TUS),
- together with higher education institutions, centres of excellence, and industrial partners across Europe.
By combining wind energy engineering, power systems, and advanced digital technologies, DigiWind provides learners with future-oriented competencies required by the rapidly growing renewable energy industry.
DigiWind Scholarships
As part of the DigiWind project, Gdańsk University of Technology offers academic scholarships to outstanding students enrolled in the M.Sc. in Smart Renewable Energy Engineering programme.
The scholarship scheme is designed to recognise academic excellence and support students in developing the knowledge and skills required for careers in renewable energy and offshore wind.
The first call for applications will award 13 one-time scholarships of €5,000 each.
Scholarships are awarded based on a ranking determined by the student's Grade Point Average (GPA) from the most recently completed semester. In the event of a tie, scientific achievements and research accomplishments will be taken into consideration.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the F6S platform.
